Michael Mcdonald show
On December 9 2007 we brought in PA and lights for the Michael Mcdonald Christmas Show with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra at the Value City Arena (home of the Buckeye Basketball Team).
Load-in at 8:00 AM, soundcheck at noon, show at 7:00 PM.... and I missed the Patriots stompin' the Steelers, but I did get a game update from Dad...
final score Pats 34 - Pit 13....Oh yeah, the show was great, Michael Mcdonald (and his band) is a great talent...I loved "I Keep Forgetting", "What A Fool Believes"
Tech notes : We had a Yamaha M7CL console for the Symphony inputs, which was connected via AES/EBU to the bands Digidesign Venue console at FOH

Monitors
Recently did monitors for Jazz singer Neena Freelon , and all I can say is ...wow...incredible voice, great band. It was one of those times when it was difficult to concentrate on the job without getting carried away by the music...This 'video' was shot with my digital camera, so not much to see, but you can almost hear a little bit of this great singer....

Wexner Center for the Arts
Where could you go to see a great African guitar player 'Vieux Farka Toure', a Japanese metal band called 'Boris', or an incredible jazzbluescountryrockgospelR&B band 'Over The Rhine' ? At the Wexner Center for the Arts where I did monitors for three shows and was introduced to the art of 'landing a plane'...which is attempting to communicate with artists who do not speak the same language using hand gestures...some pics here

Microphone
Recently mixed a jazz trio and used a Shure KSM27 on the grand piano. A great microphone for studio or live sound applications. It is a large diaphragm cardioid with a 15db pad and a three position bass roll-off..great sounding mic...

Digital Console 101-the power of Recall
If, in the middle of soundcheck, one were to accidentally recall a scene that had nothing to do with the current scene (that one had not even saved) one would abruptly end said soundcheck.
I'm just sayin'....

Cant we just get along ?
A brief note for venues, promoters, producers - actually for the entire world - for any event that happens before noon : there must be coffee available - I do not care if it is free, I don't even care if it is hot - I just want COFFEE - do not offer me bottled water, soda, or tea....do not ask if I want a cappacino venti latte - I just want COFFEE -
Thank you and have a nice day....
P.S. The one place that actually gets this is the Recording Workshop - thanks Jim
